March 28th – April 3rd    

SHASTA

  • The 25 mile Sacramento River Rail Trail provides joggers, hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders with a tranquil escape along the Sacramento River.
  • Visit the Coleman Fish Hatchery located on Battle Creek where there’s numerous opportunities to view and photograph wildlife.
  • Take a 2 hour guided tour at the Shasta Caverns and experience the adventure and mystery of the caverns.

TRINITY

  • Bigfoot Scenic Byways offers a new adventure to your trip. View engaging scenery and have a picnic along one of the rivers!
  • Enjoy a night out with your loved one at the Whitmore Inn Bed & Breakfast, a Victorian home in the heart of the Historic District of Weaverville.
  • Explore the Weaverville Joss House State Historic Park. It’s the oldest continuously used Chinese Temple!

SISKIYOU

  • Get out and see the country with the State of Jefferson Scenic Byway. View the rugged Klamath River, steep forested mountains and so much more!
  • Take a ride back in time while driving through the self-tour of Yreka. The Victorian houses will have you mesmerized!
  • Take a drive along the Smith River Scenic Byway which runs along the Smith River, also known as one of the crown jewels of the National Wild & Scenic River System.

MODOC

  • Explore Fandango Pass, a state historical landmark, and see what kind of treasures and history you can find!
  • Visit Modoc County Historical Museum in Alturas which features artifacts dating back 150 years!
  • Get out your mountain bike and dust it off. Head to Devil’s Garden Mountain Bike Area to bike 3 miles of steep pavement and 2.3 miles of flat dirt roads appealing to beginners and advanced riders alike.

LASSEN

  • The Big Valley Museum offers endless information and displays of the early settlements of northeastern California.
  • Take a nice stroll or bike ride along the Bizz Johnson Trail that follows the Susan River from Susanville to Westwood along an old rail line.
  • The rugged Fort Sage Off-Highway Vehicle Area offers trails to suit every riding ability.

PLUMAS

  • Plumas County pioneer Jim Beckwourth’s refurbished hotel and trading post, circa 1852, 1850’s refurbished log cabin is located in Portola.
  • Visit the Plumas Eureka State Park and Museum in Johnsville. This indoor/outdoor complex includes mining relics and a restored stamp mill.
  • View all the greenery while taking the Feather River Scenic Byway. Take in the railroad history, historic river canyons, and the Northern Sierra Golf Country all from the comfort of your car.

BUTTE

  • Try your luck gold panning at Forks of Butte area, 25 miles northeast of Chico. Call BLM-Redding Field Office 530-224-2100 for more information.
  • Take a tour of Feather River Fish Hatchery and Nature Center. Witness a fish’s life cycle up close! Call 530-534-2306 for tour times.
  • Visit Oroville Chinese Temple and Garden which was built in 1863 to serve a community of 10,000 Chinese. 

TEHAMA

  • Drive through the Olive City North on HWY 99 and end in Historic Red Bluff to do a little antiquing!
  • It’s the perfect time to enjoy the blooming orchards along historic route 99. View many of the varieties of vegetation at their most beautiful state!
  • The weather has been absolutely spectacular! Take advantage of these nice days and try your luck at Sevillano Links Golf Course in Corning!
