The Shasta Wonderland Association has decided that it is time to take there marketing efforts viral. The association has started an aggressive marketing strategy that will focus on social marketing as a major platform for getting reaching new targeted users around the world. They will use a diverse range of social networking, social bookmarking, content sharing sites, video, blogging and podcasting. Shasta will be one of the first destinations in the country to employ such a powerful and distinctly different marketing approach to their marketing. They will use such sites as FaceBook, MySpace, Digg, Technorati, Del.icio.us, Reddit, Stumbleupon, Wiki’s, Squidoo, Gather, Flickr, twitter, YouTube, Google Video and a whole host of other sites. Check back often and read what’s new in the great outdoors of Shasta County.

Castle Crags State Park is a landmark. This 4,350 acre park lies at the base of the granite spires that tower more than 4,000 feet above the nearby upper reaches of the Sacramento River. The park features 28 miles of hiking trails including a 2.7-mile access trail to the designated Castle Crags Wilderness, part of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The park has two miles of the cool, quick-running Sacramento River, nine miles of maintained trails and access to the Pacific Crest Trail. The park has 76 developed campsites, 6 environmental campsites, and offers swimming, year-round fishing in the Sacramento River, hiking in the back country, and a view of Mount Shasta.
