June 5th – June 12th

SHASTA

  • For a nice afternoon walk visit the McConnell Foundation Lema Ranch trails and Churn Creek Trails!
  • Explore the Yani trail in Lassen \National Forest , which has traces of ancient Indian villages, fishing and hunting camps and circular stone features.
  • Try something new by renting a stand up paddleboard from Lost Coast Surfboards to experience the beauty of Whiskeytown Lake.

TRINITY

  • Don’t miss the Lewiston Peddler’s Fair, June 4th from 8 to 4 for great food, music, car show, wine tasting, antique and handcraft sales etc
  • Bring your camera and hike through the Trinity Alps for a chance to see Sapphire Lake, a pristine alpine lake.
  • Relax and get away from the stress of everyday life by renting a houseboat on the third largest lake in California, Trinity Lake.

SISKIYOU

  • Visit the town of Montague, where the famous baseball player, Babe Ruth would fly into to go on fishing vacations.
  • Bring your fishing pole and try your luck fishing the McCloud reservoir or just enjoy the beautiful lake views.
  • Take a ride on the Blue Goose train that will take you on a scenic excursion through Historic Yreka and the “Old West” town of Montague.

LASSEN

  • Get your exercise on the Bizz Johnson Trail.  Try it on your horse, your bicycle or on foot.  One end of the trail begins at the Susanville Train Depot.
  • Those with adventurous hearts can explore the Nobles Immigrant National Historic Trail or Buckhorn Back-Country Byway.
  • Get out the dusty fishing rod and head over to Eagle Lake. Try your luck at catching a couple of the world-famous Eagle Lake trout. Not to mention all the other recreational activities offered!

MODOC

  • Dust off the old mountain bike and head to Devil’s Garden Mountain Bike Area near Alturas to bike a total of 5.3 miles of various turfs!
  • Check the weather, pack some snacks and travel along the Modoc Volcanic Scenic Byway to view unrivaled volcanic features, natural wonders, and Indian lore.
  • Take an adventure at Lava Beds National Monument, where you can go caving and learn about the Modoc Indians!

PLUMAS

  • When in the Greenville area take the 3 mile jaunt to the Round Valley Reservoir.  Try your luck on bass or blue gill.
  • Plumas Country is full of wildflower viewing opportunities. They bloom in every color imaginable and each season brings a new display of vibrant colors.
  • Are you a fan of historic locomotives? Bring your camera and come see “Dinky” a rustic compact century-old steam locomotive.

BUTTE

  • If you’re a wine connoisseur, Butte County should please your palate.  There are a large variety of wineries  there.
  • Do you think you’ve seen it all when it comes to tools? Think again and check out the collection at Bolt’s Antique Tool Museum!
  • Enjoy a variety of photographs and other artifacts housed in the Gridley Historical and Wildlife Museum to experience the town’s history.

TEHAMA

  • For a fun time and a great education stop by the Sacramento River Discovery Center in Red Bluff
  • Dust off your mountain bike and hit the trails at the Lake Red Bluff Recreation Area.
  • Interested in learning about the history and culture of Tehama County? Visit Kelly Griggs Museum which features local Indian artifacts, antique furniture, and photographs from the county’s past.

SHASTA

  • Stop at the Subway Cave near Old Station and take a hike along the Hat Creek Rim Trail. This beautiful trail offers views of three different kinds of volcanoes: a plug dome volcano, a cinder cone, and a shield volcano!
  • Come visit the Wild Horse Sanctuary in Shingletown and view the roaming wild horses in the picturesque Old Wild West atmosphere.
  • You can find thirteen species of orchids that grow naturally on Root Creek Trail at Castle Crags State Park! 

TRINITY

  • Lewiston is a former gold mining town. Stroll across the Trinity River on the historic single-lane Old Lewiston Bridge.
  • With over 500,000 acres, the Trinity Alps Wilderness is the largest wilderness area in California. Backpack or ride a horse into more than 60 alpine lakes on well-maintained trails.

SISKIYOU

  • Located in Dunsmuir City Park lies The Botanical Gardens, which feature displays of woodland plants, bold uses of color and conservation areas where unique local flora can be enjoyed.
  • If you’re a bird enthusiast and want to get up close and personal, then check into the Canoe Trail at Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge.
  • Load up the kayaks to experience the picturesque beauty of Lake Siskiyou!

LASSEN

  • The Bizz Johnson Trail is an outdoorsman’s dream! It offers 25.4 miles of bicycling/hiking/equestrian trails, fishing, and camping!
  • Honey Lake is excellent for wildlife viewing and birdwatching with opportunities to see hundreds of migratory and nesting waterfowl, birds of prey, and passerines, sandhill cranes, beavers, pronghorn antelope, and deer.
  • Ready to let loose? The Fort Sage Recreation Management Area offers off-highway vehicle areas with a wide variety of terrain.

MODOC

  • See what you can find by exploring the Warner Mountains, which is said to have one of the most unique obsidian deposits in the nation.
  • The Modoc National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1960 to manage and protect migratory waterfowl. It provides fishing, hunting, photography, and educational opportunities!
  • Take a historic walking or driving tour of Alturas! Visit old west buildings still in us today dating back to the late 1800s.

PLUMAS

  • Take a drive along the Feather River National Scenic Byway for a chance to see up to 100 beautiful, springtime waterfalls.
  • Experience up close the railroad history of the Feather River country and Northern California and the Portola Railroad Museum.
  • If you want to see an amazing piece of architecture, then visit the Nakoma Resort in Clio, a 1924 design by Frank Lloyd Wright.

BUTTE

  • Learn about another culture by visiting the Oroville Chinese Temple & Garden, 1500 Broderick St. Open noon-4 daily.  538-2496
  • Visit the USDA Plant Introduction Center in Chico for a chance to see the oldest producing “father” and “mother” kiwi in the nation.
  • For the avid antique collector head down to Paradise where they offer more antique shops and collectible locations than any other town in the state.

TEHAMA

  • Get away from it all this weekend and head to the lodge at Dye Creek Ranch in Los Molinos, a working ranch situated on 37,650 acres.
  • Go out for a picnic overlooking the Sacramento River at the William B. Ide Adobe State Historic Park in Red Bluff.
  • Visit the Abbey of New Clairvaux in Vina to experience another way of life and sample wine that is made and grown by the monks.
