SHASTA

  • Home to the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, Igo is a town full of history and stories, even down to the origin of its name!
  • Visit the brand new “The Art of Dr. Seuss: A Retrospective Exhibition & Traveling Sculpture Garden” Exhibit at the Turtle Bay Exploration Park.
  • Fish Keswick Reservoir this week and experience some incredible rainbow trout fishing.

TRINITY

  • Are you a Bridge fan? Drive up to Hayfork and check out the Natural Bridge, a limestone arch thrown across a narrow ravine by nature.
  • Don’t forget! Weaverville has been nominated as one of America’s Coolest Small Town, take the drive and find out why!
  • Did you know that Trinity Lake is designated as a trophy Black Bass Lake by the Department of Fish and Game?

SISKIYOU

  • Did you know that Siskiyou County is heart of the famed “Northern Mines”, containing more than 370 once active gold mines, which yielded, between the years of 1880-1959, 1,800,000 troy ounces of gold?
  • Visit beautiful Scott Valley with its mountain views, quaint shops & unique dining, your “ last stop in civilization before the Marble Mountain Wilderness “
  • If you’re a cross-country skier, then check out the Nordic Center located near Mt Shasta, open every day except Tuesdays!

LASSEN

  • Eagle Lake, the second largest natural lake in California, is home to the world famous unique Eagle Lake trout! 
  • Did you know that Susanville was ranked #27 in Outdoor Life Magazines 200 Best Towns to Live?
  • Make sure you grab your camera and take the scenic drive over to Westwood where you will find a 22 foot statue of Paul Bunyan and his faithful blue ox!

MODOC

  • Attention photographers! Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen can be seen in distant panorama from South Warner Wilderness.
  • A visit to the Modoc County Museum in Alturas will enrich your understanding of lava flows, forested ranges, and wide-open vistas.
  • Visit the Devils Garden Plateau Wild Horse Territory near Alturas, 300,000 acres of habitat for the roaming wild horses.

PLUMAS

  • It’s a winter playground in Plumas County, with over 38 miles of groomed snowmobile trails at the Lakes Basin Area!
  • Planning a wedding? Check out Plumas County. Outdoor weddings can be staged at quaint, historic inns, posh country club resorts, or Western guest ranches.
  • A self-guided walking tour of 61 Quincy buildings and sites rich in history is available through a Heritage Walk brochure and map. It’s a great way to learn about the historic town.

BUTTE

  • Enjoy yourself at one of Chico’s breweries and wineries.  You will discover  tasteful award winning selections.
  • For spectacular views travel along the Feather River Canyon Scenic Byway and drive through tunnels carved out of rock!
  • Want a fun destination? Take a trip to Oroville and be sure to climb the 47-foot high viewing tower for spectacular views of the lake, mountains, and valley.

TEHAMA

  • On the road with a RV? Make a sure to stop in Tehama County, there are many RV spots right on the river.
  • Travel along the Tehama Trail to sample world-class olives and olive oils!
  • Experience the charm and history of the Kelly-Griggs House Museum in Red Bluff!

SHASTA

  • It’s beautiful to watch the snow fall in Burney! Enjoy the views of snow covered mountain tops and even do some sledding.
  • With its soaring spires of ancient granite, Castle Crags State Park is a Rock-Climbing/Bouldering dream for photographers.
  • Map enthusiasts! Drop by the Welcome to California Center in Anderson and see a 6×6 foot topical map of Northern California!

TRINITY

  • Photographers, there’s plenty of images to take now that Trinity Alps have fresh snowcapped mountain peaks.
  • History buffs will love traveling to Weaverville. There is a variety of segments of historical features integrated in Weaverville.
  • Stop by Junction City. It’s a small city with scenic roadside attractions featuring beautiful water views.

SISKIYOU

  • Attention all skiers and snowboarders. Get your gear ready because Mt. Shasta is open!!
  • Rediscover solitude by exploring the Siskiyou Wilderness with its dense forested mountains and incredible scenery.
  • For such a small town, there’s sure a lot of history in the cute town of Happy Camp. Have a look at their local museum.

LASSEN

  • For adventure seekers who don’t mind the cold, try something new by snow camping in Lassen Volcanic Nat’l Park! 
  • It’s a perfect time to take photos of Dryer Mountain, in Westwood now that there’s new snow.
  • Play in the fresh powdered snow at Susanville Ranch Park with your friends and family. There’s 1100 acres to run your energy out.

MODOC

  • Visit the small mythical town of “Louisville,” consisting historically significant buildings including Eagleville jails from the 1800′s!
  • Have you heard about the Modoc Indians? What better way to learn about their history while visiting Modoc County.
  • Discover abundant marshes, forests, plains and lakes provide habitat for a wide range of wildlife in the Alturas area, such as pronghorn antelope.

PLUMAS

  • Show your moves on ice. A new outdoor ice-skating rink opened last year in Chester for all levels and ages.
  • Frenchmen Lake invites opportunities for ice skating, ice fishing and picturesque scenes.
  • Coppervale Ski Hill is easily accessed; it’s a short distance south of Hwy. 36 between Susanville and Westwood.

BUTTE

  • Walk across California’s first suspension bridge by visiting the Bidwell Bar Suspension Bridge, near Lake Oroville!
  • For the antique enthusiast, Paradise offers more antique shop and collectible locations than any other town in the state of California!
  • Celebrate the 13th Annual Snow Goose Festival at the Gray Lodge Wildlife Area, complete with field trips, free events, art, and more 1/26-1/29!

TEHAMA

  • Visit the Tehama Wildlife Area, containing 46,862 acres that are perfect for camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing!
  • Have you treated yourself to a day of exploring the beauties of Black Butte Lake? It’s a gem!
  • Visit the quaint little town of Mineral for a fun-filled day in the snow!

SHASTA

  • Are you fascinated with architecture? If you are then check out the Harlan D. Miller Memorial Bridge also known as Dog Creek Bridge near Vollmers.
  • Hike or bike along the Clear Creek Greenway Cloverdale Trails, offering wildlife viewing and cultural/historical sites!
  • Battle Creek Wildlife Area has a range of wildlife. California quail, wood ducks, beaver, river otter, bobcat, and coyote can be seen if you’re quiet and lucky.

TRINITY

  • For something unusual visit the Natural Bridge in Hayfork that has strong links to the Native Americans, which once inhabited the area!
  • Visit Coffee Creek Ranch for excellent fishing and hiking in the Trinity Alps.
  • Weaverville is being voted as one of the best small town in United States. Check out the charm, the shops, culture, and eateries.

SISKIYOU

  • Visit Medicine Lake Highlands Volcanic Area for a chance to view caves, volcanic glass, pumice deposits, and more!
  • Experience some of the most spectacular scenery in Northern CA by hiking along the Sisson-Callahan National Recreation Trail!
  • Bring your binoculars and head to the Klamath Basin National Refuge to see one of America’s largest concentrations of Bald Eagles.

LASSEN

  • Make a pit stop for Westwood for a chance to see a 22-foot tall statue of the legendary logger Paul Bunyan and his blue ox!
  • For bird watching enthusiasts, Honey Lake is an excellent place to visit this time of year for spotting Bald Eagles and many other species of wintering waterfowl.
  • Check out Eagle Lake, located north of Susanville. It’s the second largest natural lake in California with a great view of Mt. Lassen.

MODOC

  • Enjoy a drive through the Sierra Valley and see how many bird species you can count long the way.
  • If you are interested in finding a great place to take some great winter landscape shots then visit the Little Grass Valley Reservoir.
  • The nice weather is permitting Plumas golf courses to remain open. Take advantage of your swing in the crisp mountain air.

BUTTE

  • Discover numerous art and glass blowing studios found throughout Chico that’s been named one of America’s “Top 100 Art Communities.”
  • Stop by Noble Orchards in Paradise to experience a little history and to pick up some scrumptious apples.
  • Pay your respects to the fallen WWII soldiers and learn a little about a hometown hero at Gridley-Briggs Cemetery.

TEHAMA

  • Work off some of those holiday treats along one of the Woodson Bridge State Recreation Area’s trails.
  • Travel along historic HWY 99 that originally began as a horse and stagecoach trail extending from Mexico to Canada!
  • Let the strong western heritage capture your heart and awaken your spirit while visiting Red Bluff, CA!

  • Discover miles of trails and amazing views of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen by visiting the Swasey Recreation Area!

TRINITY

PLUMAS

  • Set off on a mini adventure by hiking or biking along the Lake Almanor Recreation Trail, an 11-mile trail that borders Lake Almanor!

SHASTA

  • Take a plunge into the New Year at the Redding Recreation Polar Bear Plunge, located at the Redding Aquatic Center, Jan. 1!

TRINITY

  • Get in out of the weather and enjoy the art at Trinity County Arts Council, Highland Art Center & Main Street Gallery.
  • Did you know that there is excellent year-round fishing on the gorgeous Ruth Lake in Trinity County? Grab your gear and give it a try.

SISKIYOU

LASSEN

  • View the transformation of Lassen Volcanic National Park during the winter months, offering breath taking views, and endless winter activities!

MODOC

PLUMAS

BUTTE

TEHAMA
